1, What is DF2 steel?
DF2 steel is a quenching oil cold work tool steel.
DF2 steel ‘s Chemical composition as below:

2, Equivalent of DF2 steel
it is equivalent with AISI O1, GB 9CrWMn, JIS SKS3, DIN 100MnCrW4, W-Nr 1.2510 oil steel.
3, Delvery condition of DF2:
① Soft annealed to max. 230 HB.
② Colour code：Colour code
4，Applications of DF2 steel
① For make Tool: BLANKING, CUTTING, FORMING AND OTHER APPLICATIONS
5, PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
When Hardened and tempered to 62 HRC. DF2 physical properties as below:

6，Heat treatment of DF2 steel
① SOFT ANNEALING
Protect the steel and heat through to 780°C. Cool in the furnace at 15°C per hour to 650°C, then freely in air
② STRESS RELIEVING
After rough machining, the tool should be heated through to 650°C, holding time 2 hours. Cool slowly to 500°C, then freely in air.
③ HARDENING
Preheating temperature: 600 – 700°C Austenitising temperature: 790 – 850°C
④ QUENCHING MEDIA
in the Warm oil,about 80°C;
Martempering bath or fluidised bed at 180 – 225°C, then cooling in air;
Pls Note: On Temper the tool as soon as its temperature reaches 50 – 70°C.
7, Welding of DF2 Steel
Normal we do not advice make the welding for tool steel. but if needs. Must be take some proper precautions with regards to joint preparation, filler
material selection, pre-heating, welding procedure and postweld heat treatment to ensure good welding results. If the tool is to be polished or photo-etched, it is necessary to work with an electrode type of matching composition.
