Heat treatment temperatures, including rate of heat, cool and soak times will vary due to factors such as the shape and size of each steel component. Please consult your heat treatment provider for full guidance on heat treatment of tool steel P20+S
P20S plastic mold steel heat treatment data as below:
- Forged: Slowly heat P20+S to 1050°C， start forging, ensure forging temperature no lower than 930°C.
- Annealing: Heat to 710-740°C. Soak enough time, ensure heat thoroughly, then cool in the furnace slowly
- Hardening P20S component: at 830-870°C, quenching in oil.
- Tempering: heat to tempering temperature, then cool in air.
- Nitriding: P20S steel can be nitride, after nitriding the Case Hardening surface hardness can reached 60HRc. So nitriding can add service life of P20S steel plastic mould
