1.2358 Steel is a high-quality Cold work tool steel. It belongs to the high-quality high-carbon alloy tool steel. Oil Quenched & Tempered Hardness is 30-34 HRC. It’s equivalent to DIN X60CrMoV18-5 steel.
Chrome-vanadium tool steel for cold working with high hardenability, shock resistance, high strength, wear resistance, and dimensional stability after heat treatment. It does not exhibit high hardness compared to high-carbon steels. Weldable and susceptible to grinding, and polishing, delivered in heat treated condition with hardness 30-34HRC.
The grade used for injection molds for the production of plastics, tools for cutting and machining plastics, dies, scissors, cutting blades, punches, tools with complex shapes for cold forming, and inserts. Material 1.2358 is an excellent alternative to NMV, NCLV, or NC11LV.

Rectangular pieces can be sawn from flat bars or plates to your specific sizes. Ground tool steel bar can be supplied, providing a quality precision finished bar to tight tolerances.

Heat treatment – processes and temperatures:
Softening annealing at a temperature of 820 – 860C
Stress relief annealing at a temperature of 600 – 650C
Hardening at a temperature of 950-970C with cooling in oil or salt bath
Tempering at temperature of >180C
