Applications of A36 steel material

A36 is a ASTM low carbon steel. Typcial application as below:

  • Steel Buildings, including pre-fabricated buildings, warehouses, industrial and commercial structures
  • Steel Cabinets, enclosures and housings
  • Steel Pipe and tubing
Forging of A36 steel material

Preheat slowly , then increase the temperature more rapidly to forging temperature. Then cool slowly

Annealing of A36 low carbon steel material

Soak thoroughly at 880-900°C ,  soak enough time,Then slowly cool in furnace.

Hardening of A36 steel material

A36 is a low carbon steel, it is not suited for heat treatment. So can’t make hardening. If need hardening, heat to 880-910°C, then quenching in water and temper.

Welding  of A36 steel material

A36 is a low carbon steel, so its welding is easy.  Most material is ok.

Nitriding of A36 steel material

A36 is a low carbon steel, it is not suited for nitriding. If need nitriding advice use the 1045 or 1050 steel

Final Grinding of A36 steel material

Select the correct grade of wheel in consultation with the grinding wheel manufacturer. Ensure the grinding wheel is in good condition by means of a suitable dressing tool. Wet grinding is a preferable option using a copious supply of coolant. If dry grinding is resorted to then use a very soft wheel.
