ASTM A572 grade 50 steel plate
OTAI SPECIAL STEEL is ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel stockholders and suppliers from china. more than 20 years of experience in alloy steel round bar, flat bar, and plate supply.
ASTM A572 grade 50 steel plate is a high-strength, low-alloy steel that finds its best application where there is a need for more strength per unit of weight. Less of this material is needed to fulfill given strength requirements than is necessary with regular carbon steels. Grade 50 is used in general plate applications when the plate will be riveted, bolted, or welded.
Grade 50 is a Columbium-Vanadium steel that offers a minimum yield of 50,000 PSI. In addition, ASTM A572 Grade 50 is noted for its increased resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Grade 50 contains more alloying elements than plain carbon steel and thus is somewhat more difficult to form. Grade 50 is more difficult to cold work, but can be successfully bent or shaped but requires more force than plain carbon steel.
ASTM A572 Grade 50 properties are as below:
Form of Supply
ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel, we can supply steel flat bars, plates, and steel square blocks. Rectangular pieces can be sawn from flat bars or plates to your specific sizes. Ground tool steel bar can be supplied, providing a quality precision finished bar to tight tolerances.

Heat treatment Related
- Forged of ASTM A572 grade 50 steel
ASTM A572 grade 50 steel Forge at 2350 to 1800 F.
This steel is supplied in plate, shapes, and bar forms. It is not subsequently forged by the user.
- Annealing of ASTM A572 grade 50 steel
A full anneal is done at 1700 F with slow furnace cooling. A stress relief anneal may be done at 1000 F.
- Hardening of ASTM A572 grade 50 steel
Hardens by cold working or by heat treatment, quenching and tempering per ASTM A514.
Tempering of ASTM A572 grade 50 steel
Tempering of the quenched steel is done at a temperature of 1200 to 1300 F.
Industries & Applications
ASTM A572 grade 50 steel plate is typically used in various structural applications due to its ability to bear heavy weight while still being relatively light and machinable. Some of the most common infrastructure applications for the A572 plate include bridge construction and building construction.
While most commonly used in the infrastructure sector, the A572 plate is also widely used in other industries, including:
Energy, for use in constructing transmission towers
Construction, for use in producing construction equipment
Industrial manufacturing, for use in producing machinery and truck parts
Road plate applications
