Chemically, 42CrMo4 shaft Annealed is respectively simple in assimilation with several tool steels. It has 0.42% carbon, 0.30% silicon, 0.20% molybdenum, 1.00% manganese and 1.00% chromium per mass. It also manages to have phosphorus purities in trace amounts and sulfur – up to 0.025 percent.

These trace elements, when presented with the simplest steel such as 1040, generate the characteristics of 42CrMo4 Shaft Annealed. However the 42CrMo4 Shaft Annealed persists congruently simple. It is handled in a more extensive range of more dominated tool steel applications, such as the D or S series of steel.

The 42CrMo4 HT is pre-tempered during processing for an average hardening of 28-32 HRC. The steel has a flexibility module of 200 GPa and a specific gravity of 7.81. It also contains a density of .282 pounds per cubic inch, or 7,810 kilograms per cubic meter.

Since 42CrMo4 HT is pre-tempered, the additional thermal method is often avoided. However, it can be requisitioned at 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit (10 to 15 degrees Celsius) has to return to its most docile stage. It can be resistant, preheating it to 1,250-1,300 degrees Fahrenheit (677 – 704 degrees Celsius). And then heating it to 1,550-1,600 degrees (843 – 871 degrees Celsius), and keeping that temperature for 30 minutes. After heating it, the steel has to be cooled in oil and quickly tempered.
