The difference between m2 high-speed steel and 6542 high-speed steel

In the field of modern mechanical processing, whether it is traditional manufacturing such as machinery, automobiles, ships, railways, molds, textiles, etc .; high-end and emerging applications include aerospace, information industry, etc., high-speed steel is widely used. m2 high-speed steel, as a molybdenum-based high-speed steel, has a mold with small carbide unevenness and high toughness. Suitable as a mold for shock and impact loads. Because of its moderate hardness and abrasion resistance, it is mostly used to make material tools that are difficult to cut.

The difference between m2 high-speed steel and 6542 high-speed steel

The difference between m2 high-speed steel and 6542 high-speed steel is that m2 is an American standard grade, and 6542 is the common name of domestic W6Mo5Cr4V2 grade.

m2 high-speed steel is a molybdenum-based high-speed steel, commonly known in China as 6542. Corresponding to US steel standard US steel standard t11302 and US astm / aisiae standard steel steel m2 (normal carbon), the hot working specification start temperature is 1040 ~ 1150 ℃, and the end temperature is 930 ℃. The annealing standard temperature is 820 ~ 870 ℃, and the hardness after annealing is 207 ~ 235hbs. The normal quenching and tempering specifications have a quenching temperature of 1190-1230 ° C, the quenching medium is oil, air cooling or a salt bath, a tempering temperature of 540-600 ° C, and a hardness of 65-60hrc. Die quenching and tempering specifications preheating temperature 730 ~ 850 ℃, quenching temperature salt bath furnace 1216 ℃, controlled atmosphere furnace 1227 ℃, tempering temperature 550 ℃, hardness after tempering ≥ 64hrc.

The corresponding grade of m2 high-speed steel in China is W6Mo5Cr4V2. There is no difference in chemistry and properties.

We all know that the chemical composition of m2 high-speed steel is: carbon C: 0.80 to 0.90 silicon, Si: 0.20 to 0.45 manganese, Mn: 0.15 to 0.40, sulfur S: ≤ 0.030, phosphorus P: ≤ 0.030, chromium Cr: 3.80 to 4.40, Nickel Ni: allowable residual content ≤ 0.30, copper Cu: allowable residual content ≤ 0.25, vanadium V: 1.75 to 2.20, molybdenum Mo: 4.50 to 5.50, tungsten W: 5.50 to 6.75.

Application fields of m2 high-speed steel and 6542 high-speed steel ① Moulds suitable for bearing shock and impact loads: deep-drawing dies and punching dies. ② Metal cutting saw blades, cold heading and extrusion tools.
