JIS SK4 Steel is a carbon tool steel. SK4 is equivalent with AISI W1A-9(1/2) UNS T72301, GB T10 and DIN C105W2 | 1.1645 Tool Steel. SK4 Tool Steel consists of chromium, molybdenum and vanadium and is known for its high hardenability and great toughness.
JIS SK4 Carbon tool steel, strength and wear resistance is higher than SK6 and JIS SK6Mn, but low thermal rigid, hardenability is not high and large deformation hardening, fine grain when quenching easily overheat, can maintain fine grain ; quenched steel in excess of undissolved carbides, the high abrasion resistance, for manufacturing a sharp edge and a little toughness tools. Suitable for the manufacture of cutting conditions are poor, high wear resistance and is not subject to sudden and violent shock and vibration and requires a certain toughness and has sharp edges of the tools can also be used without a large impact wear parts .

Heat treatment Related
- Annealing
Slowly heated to Annealing temperature and allow enough times, let the steel to be thoroughly heated, Then cool slowly in the furnace. Hardness: annealing, 197 or less hb, creasing acuity 4.30 mm in diameter

SK4 steels should be heated uniformly to 760-780°C. completely heated through. . About 30 min per 25 mm of ruling section is to be provided and then the steels should be immediately quenched in water. Sample quenching | > HRC hardness: 62

Heat to 1100 °C， start forged, the forging temperature no below 900 °C
