Otai Special Steel supply ASTM standard H13 tool steel mainly round bar and steel plate. DIN 1.2344 and ASTM H13 are equivalent material. This article we introduce H13 hardness.
H13 is typical chromium-molybdenum tool steel widely used in hot work and cold work tooling applications. H13 usually are delivered after annealing. Annealing must be performed after hot working and before re-hardening. H13 Harness after annealing is maxed 235 HB.
H-13 Tool Steel is a 5% chromium hot work tool steel designed for applications that require extreme toughness combined with good red-hardness.
It should be noted that, although H13 was designed as hot work steel, it has solved many cold work applications where extra toughness could be gained with some sacrifice of wear resistance.
H13 heat treatment and H13 hardness regulations as follow
H13 Annealing hardness: 235 HB
H13 Cold drawn hardness: 262 HB
