Adjusted to April 1, 2016 only, 2016 US cumulative crude steel production was 22.551 million short tons, capacity utilization was 73.2%, an increase of 4.1%. 2016 in the same period were 21.67 million short tons and 71.3%.

Week crude steel production by region, 19.7 million short tons in the northeastern region, the Great Lakes region 657,000 short tons, the central and western 16.9 million short tons, the southern 579,000 short tons, the western 90,000 short tons. The statistic covers about 90% of US crude steel production capacity.
