M2 high-speed steel in China is similar to W6Mo5Cr4V2 (commonly known as 6542, US brand M2). M2 high-speed steel is mainly used for narrow and deep groove processing or cutting of metal materials such as steel, iron, copper, and aluminum. It can also be used for non-metal milling. M2 high-speed steel is one of the best mold materials for milling cutters. .

Tungsten-molybdenum-based high-speed steel M2 high-speed steel has a series of advantages such as fine and uniform carbide distribution, high wear resistance, high toughness and thermoplasticity, and high cost performance. The high-speed steel produced by it, after high-precision quenching, has a hardness of 62 ~ 64HRC, a bending strength of 4700MPa, and a 50% increase in toughness and thermoplasticity than w18Cr4V. Due to the wear resistance, heat resistance, toughness and other aspects of M2 material high-speed steel, the performance is good, and the performance-price ratio is high, which is welcomed by customers.
The main uses of M2 high-speed steel: cold forging dies, fine blanking dies, powder pressing dies, etc., shear dies, plastic dies with glass fiber, etc. Moulds suitable for shock and impact loads: deep-drawing dies, punching dies. Metal cutting saw blades, cold heading and extrusion tools.
The difference between m2 high speed steel and m35 high speed steel
M35 high-speed steel is similar to W6Mo5Cr4V2Co5 in China, and its heat treatment hardness can reach 64-67 HRC. Features: Tungsten-molybdenum-based cobalt-containing high-speed steel has higher red hardness and wear resistance than W6Mo5Cr4V2. The steel has better cutting performance, but its strength And low impact toughness, easy oxidation and decarburization during hot working and heat treatment.

M35 high-speed steel is mainly used for hobs, broaches, and end mills. It is suitable for manufacturing abrasion-resistant and impact-resistant tools for advanced cutting, advanced dies, screw dies, tools that require toughness and complex shapes, reamer, milling cutter, iron head, punch, etc.
It can be known from the above comparison that M2 high speed steel is higher in cost performance than M35 and has a wider range of applications. And the strength and toughness are better than M35, the oxidation resistance is better. Of course, the disadvantage of M2 high-speed steel is that it is easy to overheat during heat treatment, which requires higher skills and processes to master.
