SKD11 and D2 material originally belonged to high-carbon high-chromium cold-working die steel. It has good abrasion resistance and heat treatment micro deformation characteristics. Its heat treatment hardness is HRC59-61.
What are the differences between SKD11 and D2 material? Many people think that they are the same material. In Cold work die steel Cr12MoV is named for the so called “universal steel”. When you purchase Cr12MoV, SKD11, D2, some suppliers use commercial Cr12MoV instead and sell it to you at a lower price. When you use it, you find that Cr12MoV, SKD11, D2 these three materials have the same performance. You might think that there is no difference between SKD11 and D2 material.
The differences between them are as follows:
The place of birth is different. SKD11 is the general name of the Japanese Ministry of Industry. D2 material is the American mold steel grade, and the alloy composition is Cr12Mo1V1. However, the composition of SKD11 alloy produced in China is lower than the D2 material standard.
The resistance to high temperature softening is different. When high heat is generated by high-speed stamping, the hardness of SKD11 decreases faster. And the punch is more likely to be worn. For high-speed stamping dies, the wear resistance of D2 material is about twice than that of SKD11.
Abrasion resistance is different. Due to the different vanadium V content of the wear-resistant zinc alloy, D2 has better wear resistance than SKD11.
The hardenability is different. The hardenability of D2 material is higher than SKD11. D2 mold steel for large molds has more uniform core hardness and surface hardness.
OTAI company has maintained no quality incident complaints for 8 years continuously, and the customers repeat order rate is exceeds 85%. We supplied a lot of D2 material to different counties in different shapes, say flat bar, round bar and hexagon. We committed to being responsible for each order, and solving customer problems in the first time.
