4. Applications of P20 steel plate material
AISI P20 Tool steel is a plastic injection mould steel, the steel by “super clean” produce process, pre-hardened, showing the height of micro pure and excellent homogeneous structure, excellent polishing and light etching engraving. After heat treatment, processing and polishing performance is very good, can be carried out, and can be processed, suitable for the surface treatment of chrome, material hardness, good toughness, good mechanical processing performance. Gold microstructure is martensite and bainite structure. Main be applied to in plastic steel mold. like car injection moulding, PVC, PP plastic injection molding etc. P20 is application the most widely plastic mould steel material, Normal use steel plate.
5. Forging of P20 Tool Steel
Slowly heat steel material, soak enough time for the steel to heated through. then start forging at about 1050°C. Below 930°C don’t forging, pls reheating if necessary. After finished forging, cool in heat treatment furnace very slowly to room temperature.
6. Annealing of AISI P20 Steel Grade
First Heat P20 tool steel to 765-780°C. Soak enough time, Then cool in the furnace to room temperature.
7. Stress Relieving of P20 steel
When P20 mould are heavily machined, The steel mould stress relieving is strong advice.
8. Hardening of P20 Mold steel
Heat P20 steel dies to 820-850 °C, soak enough time until heat thoroughly. Quench in heat treatment oil.
9. Tempering of AISI P20 Tool Steel
After quenching finished, slowly heat to the tempering temperature, ensure soak thoroughly. then cool in air.
10. P20 steel Nitriding and Carburising / Case Hardening
For let the P20 mold/ Dies get higher surface hardness, To extend P20 steel dies mould utility longevity, to shorten injection cycle.
Nitriding or Carburising maybe is necessary. Nitriding can get a surface thickness of 0.35mm to 0.5mm. hardness about 60HRc.
By Carburising surface hardness 56-59Hrc.

12. Processing of P20 Plastic Mould Steel
