1.2085 steel is a high-quality plastic tool steel. It belongs to the high-quality high-carbon alloy tool steel. Oil Quenched & Tempered Hardness is 280 – 325 HB. 1.2085 steel equivalent with DIN X 33 CrS 16.
Application:
plates for corrosion-resistant mould bases and die sets;
moulds for corrosive plastics; the expense for protection and care of mould tools is reduced thanks to increased corrosion resistance; not suitable for mould inserts

Form of Supply
1.2085 steel, we can supply the round bar, flat bar, plate, hexagonal steel bar, and steel square block. Round bars can be sawn to your required lengths as one-offs or multiple-cut pieces. Rectangular pieces can be sawn from flat bars or plates to your specific sizes. Ground tool steel bar can be supplied, providing a quality precision finished bar to tight tolerances.

HEAT TREATMENT:
Usually, no heat treatment is required
Soft annealing:
850 to 880 °C for about 2 to 5 hours
of slow controlled cooling, further cooling in air, annealing hardness max. 240 HB
Hardening:
1000 to 1030 °C
keeping curing temperature for 30 minutes
quenching in oil is preferable
obtainable hardness: 48 HRC
Tempering:
slow heating to tempering temperature immediately after hardening;
minimum time in a furnace: 2 hours per 20 mm part thickness;
tempering twice is recommended
