In my three years experience work in Otai Special Steel company.most of them are require for Hot rolled black sureface condition.

Not much people take 1.7225 shaft annealed which hardness is less than 22HRC,In my three years experience work in Otai Special Steel company.most of them are require for Hot rolled black sureface condition,but their seldome people do demand the 1.7225 shaft Annealed one,1.7225 also name 4140 in America, 42CrMo4 in Germany, and SCM 440 in Japan.

Applications of 1.7225 steel  material

1.7225 steel is a typical alloy structural steel, Its Mechanical Properties is very nice. So the 1.7225 application range is very widly. DIN 1.7225 can use in gearing, bearing, machinery structural parts, Like Possesses good hardness and high strength, hardenability, quenching deformation of small, high temperature creep rupture strength and high. Used in the manufacture requirements higher than 35 crmo steel strength and conditioning section more large forgings, such as locomotive traction with the big gear, supercharger drive gear, rear axle, the load of connecting rod and a spring clip, can also be used to under 2000 m deep well of oil drill pipe joint and the fishing tool and so on.

Forging of 1.7225 steel material

Preheat slowly to 750°C then increase the temperature more rapidly to 1150-1200 °C. Do not forge below 850°C. Then cool the 1.7225 slowly after forging, cool in ash or lime ,either in a furnace or in vermiculite.

1.7225 shaft annealed

Heat to the 1.7225 steel and Soak thoroughly at 800-850°C before furnace cooling at a maximum rate of 20°C per hour down to 480°C followed by cooling in furnace or air.
